KUSC LETTERS : Is Love a Threat to Classical-Music Lovers?
KUSC’s latest little scandal is yet another indication of the depths to which this once great radio station has sunk. The alleged injustice to Deacon pales in comparison to the damage the Smiths have inflicted on KUSC. In using the station to preach their heavy-handed, simple-minded crusade for feminism, cultural diversity and anti-elitism, they have shown a boundless contempt for the intelligence of their listeners.
I wish Grice had carried out her reported threat to resign as a result of Deacon’s criticism. Her departure would have been a gift to the classical-music lovers of Southern California and would have put the station on the road to recovery.
To completely restore its sanity, however, USC Radio needs a new president and general manager.
