A San Diego woman killed Sunday night by a hit-and-run driver while on her way to her anniversary party has been identified as Jung Lee, 61, a police spokesman said.
Lee was hit by a car at 6:52 p.m. while crossing the 4400 block of Clairemont Drive. She was walking several feet behind her husband, officials said.
She was taken to Mission Bay Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m., the county medical examiner’s office said.
Lee and her husband, Byung Lee, were going to their anniversary party, officials said.
Byung Lee, 71, was not hit by the car, but was taken to Mission Bay Hospital with heart problems, officials said. Lee was treated and released Sunday, hospital spokeswoman Jennifer Chan said.
The couple had just left their parked car on the west side of the street and were crossing at mid-block toward an apartment complex where the anniversary party was being held, officials said. As the couple crossed the street, Jung Lee was hit by a northbound vehicle that failed to stop, officials said.
Witnesses reported seeing a red sedan leaving the scene.
Police requested anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver to call detective Michael Yaptangco at 495-7810.
