Judge Ronald P. Kreber has been selected by his colleagues for a second consecutive one-year term as presiding judge of South County Municipal Court.
Blair T. Barnette was selected for a second consecutive term as assistant presiding judge.
Kreber, who was appointed to the bench by then-Gov. George Deukmejian in 1988, will officially begin his tenure as presiding judge on Jan. 4.
In South County Municipal Court, the presiding judge oversees all legal matters involved in running the courthouse. Kreber will be in charge of three judges in Laguna Niguel and four commissioners who handle small claims, civil and traffic matters at another location in Laguna Hills.
After his appointment to the bench, Kreber worked in North County Municipal Court until he transferred to South County in 1990.
Barnette was appointed to the bench by then-Gov. Ronald Reagan in 1972.
