‘Home Alone’ Fares May Require Loan

Perhaps Kevin McCallister should have been left home alone--it would have saved his parents a bundle in air fare.
In the hit movie “Home Alone 2,” 14 members of the McCallister family and relatives fly from Chicago to Miami for the Christmas holidays.
But, of course, Kevin McCallister mucks things up by boarding the wrong plane to New York City. So, the family flies from Miami to the Big Apple, then presumably back home on the McCallisters’ carrier of choice--American Airlines.
So how much does this holiday excursion cost? Based on the family travel habits--the four adults ride in first-class luxury while the 10 kids are stuck in coach--the McCallisters are looking at a $16,218 air fare bill, according to Thomas Nulty, president of Associated Travel Management.
“All in all, it was a very expensive vacation,” Nulty said.
