Westlake High baseball Coach Rich Herrera told his players Tuesday that he will take a one-year leave of absence for personal reasons, several sources confirmed. Herrera, a walk-on coach at Westlake the past four seasons, could not be reached for comment.
Herrera has a mark of 51-40-1 at the school. In 1990, Westlake was ranked first in the nation by one publication and finished 28-2.
Bob Wade, a Westlake assistant, is expected to take over the team.
