Forklift Canopy: Just one more word on protection from the elements.
It’s a hot, humid day. And who gets the most sympathy? Forklift operators for one--the ones baking under the sun.
Donald Gibson of Orange has been marketing the Dry-Op canopy, a piece of tinted vinyl that attaches to overhead guards on forklifts, protecting operators from sunburn or, for that matter, rain, falling dust or overhead spills.
About 10 years ago, when Gibson was selling forklifts, he noticed that many operators placed cardboard or plywood over their heads as protection.
“They would place anything they could find,” Gibson said. “But it obstructs their overhead vision. This gives them protection, and they can still see above them.”
The canopy measures 48 inches square and has Velcro fasteners. One size fits all.
The suggested retail price is less than $30.
