Canada defeated winless Japan, 8-1, to clinch the World Junior Hockey championship at Gavle, Sweden, with one round to play.
It was the sixth junior title for Canada, which also won in 1990 and 1991.
The United States helped Sweden clinch the silver medal by defeating Russia, 4-2. The Americans (3-3) moved to fifth in the standings.
