Seymour’s New Post

In response to “Wilson Names Seymour to Affordable Housing Post,” Dec. 22:
You describe John Seymour as a former mayor of Anaheim, elected to the state Senate in 1982 and “a former real estate broker and property management executive,” which he was. He also is a past president of the California Assn. of Realtors, one of the largest trade associations in the state. Seymour is eminently qualified for his new post. A later paragraph, referring to Seymour, says: “He said that his appointment may draw criticism as straight political patronage for a washed-up politician.” If losing an election qualifies one as a “washed-up politician,” I might point out that Dianne Feinstein qualified for this category also.
