Faced with growing needs of the Foothill Ranch area, the Orange County Fire Department will soon have a new station near the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Portola Parkway.
Station 54 will be dedicated at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at 19811 Pauling. On hand will be Supervisor Gaddi H. Vasquez, county Fire Chief Larry Holms and Foothill Ranch Co. project manager Alan Buck.
Msgr. John Sammon will preside at the ceremony.
The station, which will also serve nearby communities of Lake Forest and Mission Viejo, won’t be ready for service until Sept. 18.
Funds for construction and fire-fighting equipment were provided by Foothill Ranch Community Facilities District, which is supported in part by assessments on local property owners.
Station 54 is one of 48 fire stations in Orange County.
Once operational, it will house an engine and three firefighters 24 hours a day.
