Still Growing: While Pizza Hut and Domino’s have drawn the most attention as the prime combatants in the ongoing pizza wars, Numero Uno has been quietly expanding.
The chain, based in Van Nuys, now has 20 shops in Orange County and another 50 elsewhere in Southern California. It recently opened takeout and delivery pizza shops in Costa Mesa, San Clemente and Westminster, and has plans for shops in Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Newport Beach, Irvine and Placentia.
The chain, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, plans to open as many as 200 eateries in Southern California in the next few years.
