Beverly Hills Honors Golden Globes

Beverly Hills will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Golden Globe awards with photo displays of famous Globe winners and street banners and flags through January.
The tribute is part of a monthlong celebration of the city’s longstanding relationship with the entertainment industry and the Globes’ ties to the community, according to a proclamation by Mayor Robert K. Tanenbaum.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., which organizes the awards program, has presented the show from the Beverly Hilton Hotel since 1970. This year’s show will be broadcast nationally on Jan. 23.
The tribute, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Beverly Hills Visitors Bureau, will showcase photos from the association’s archives throughout the Golden Triangle shopping district. More than 40 photos of stars who have won a Globe, including Marilyn Monroe, Alfred Hitchcock, Jodie Foster and Tom Cruise, will be on display in store windows in the shopping district is near the Civic Center.
Banners and international flags also will be flown on Wilshire Boulevard between San Vicente and Santa Monica boulevards.
