SANTA ANA : Vietnamese Church Proposal Approved

The City Council has approved plans for a 20,150-square-foot Vietnamese Catholic church and cultural center, which is expected to become a landmark and draw visitors from throughout Southern California.
Without discussion, the council this week voted unanimously for the project.
The center will consist of four buildings, including a chapel, classroom building, meeting hall and two towers, according to a report presented to the council.
Construction on the center at 1538 N. Century Blvd. is expected to begin this spring and will be completed in three phases during the next few years as funds become available, said Don Crough, construction manager for the Catholic Diocese of Orange.
The completion of the first phase will take about 10 months.
