Andy Walin, former Magnolia High basketball player, said Thursday he will transfer from Whittier College to Irvine Valley College.
Walin, a freshman guard-forward, is leaving because he doesn’t want to play on the junior varsity team. He will attend Irvine Valley this spring and play next season.
“When the coaches talked to me about coming to Whittier, they never said anything about playing on the junior varsity,” Walin said. “And I didn’t like the offense. They wanted to make me an inside player. I said, ‘No way, I’m a shooter.’ ”
