Not Everyone Thinks Robinson’s Comeback Means USC Will, Too
- Share via
I am a UCLA alumnus and a lifelong fan, but as far as I am concerned, those Bruin supporters who called the talk shows to chortle over USC’s loss to Fresno State simply epitomize the fact that UCLA has essentially always been a second-rate football power.
Consider that UCLA’s record over the last four years is 23-21-1. The Bruins don’t even compete for the conference title any more, let alone national honors. Three Rose Bowl appearances in six years gets Larry Smith fired, while Terry Donahue goes three times in 17 years and keeps his job. When John Robinson has the Trojans on top again, what will Bruin fans have to laugh about then?
