Arts Center Is Pipe Dream
Burbank Boulevard is closed again because of flooding in the rain. Whose foolish pipe dream is it to make this the place for cultural buildings, performances, arts, and a museum or amphitheater?
Who will patronize this “pie-in-the-sky” kooky place for a cultural center? Who will pay for enough tickets to make this at least a break-even project?
Are the taxpayers going to get stuck with more losers the City Council and the mayor endorse, like the downtown L.A. theaters and the equestrian center?
Who will pay to clean up the flooding around the cultural center?
Ask patrons of the park how they’d like buildings in the open space north of the lake. Most are horrified.
People who live in small buildings crave open spaces, and think of parks as places with trees to sit under. They don’t want man-made “cultural” buildings or amphitheaters. They want space between them and other people.
