A 9-month-old Pearblossom boy suffered second-degree burns Monday when he turned on a faucet in the bathtub and showered himself with scalding water, authorities said.
Joshua Lowry, who suffered burns over 11% of his body, was listed in fair condition at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster.
Joshua’s mother, whom hospital officials identified as Donna Harrison-Lowry, set the boy in the bathtub about 2:45 p.m. Monday as she prepared to give him a bath at their home in the 12100 block of East Avenue V-10, said Capt. Al Schriver of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Schriver said the baby reached up and turned the hot water on full force.
The baby was treated by firefighters and taken by helicopter to the hospital.
