Former Salomon Executive Indicted: Former Salomon Bros. Inc. Managing Director Paul Mozer, a central figure in the Treasury market scandal that engulfed the investment firm, was indicted by a federal grand jury for securities fraud, according to court papers. The indictment comes one day after a plea agreement between Mozer and prosecutors fell apart. Mozer, who ran Salomon’s government trading desk, is accused of running a scheme designed to enable Salomon to buy Treasury notes “greatly in excess” of 35% of the total auctioned--the limit set by Treasury rules--by submitting false bids.
