Syracuse Chancellor Kenneth Shaw defended Coach Jim Boeheim’s handling of the six players involved in a brawl outside a campus bar and said the university will probably not seek further action against the players. Michael Edwards, a reserve guard, was suspended indefinitely after being arrested for criminal mischief last weekend. Police said Edwards used a hammer to smash the windows on a bar manager’s truck after a dispute between the bar’s bouncers and Edwards, and teammate Anthony Harris, who lost three teeth in the fight. Four other players were involved, but only Edwards was charged.
