Whittaker led the Wildcats to two Delphic League wins that equaled the team’s victory total in the league last season. Whittaker scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Wildcats defeated Buckley, 60-49. He then scored 28 points and had 9 rebounds in a 57-52 win over Bel-Air Prep. He finished the week with 15 points and 9 rebounds in a 51-48 loss to nonleague opponent La Mirada.

Other top prep performers:

Rick Price, a St. Anthony basketball player, scored 57 points in two Del Rey League games. Price scored 37 points as the Saints defeated Pius X, 71-63. He added 20 points in a 52-50 loss to Servite.

Kelly Hambrick, a guard on the La Mirada basketball team, scored 25 points in a nonleague win over El Monte, 55-42. He scored 25 more in a 51-48 victory over Whitney.
