JOAN’S SHOW: How does an heiress to a multimillion-dollar fortune run a museum? Any way she wants. . . . Joan Irvine Smith’s new Irvine Museum (F1), to house the California Impressionist art she’s been buying voraciously since late 1991, opens Friday. Museum director Jean Stern is an art authority but has never run a museum before. That’s OK, says Smith, “I run everything--remember that!”
