Commercial Whaling
The numerous inaccuracies and distortions by Blichfeldt reduce to crassness the critical ecological obligation to preserve whales. First, the “whale” has not been saved. To the contrary, commercial whaling has driven eight of the nine great whale species to the brink of extinction; many down to just a few hundred animals.
Contrary to Blichfeldt’s assertion, Greenpeace is not necessarily saving whales for some human characteristic whales may possess; we want to reverse the trend and reduce the threat of extinction to all the great whale species and safeguard the marine environment.
Greenpeace recognizes subsistence whaling for purposes of human consumption as food, and with the products not to enter into commerce.
