LONG BEACH : Ex-Compton College Star Pleads Guilty in 2 Killings
- Share via
A former Compton College basketball star pleaded guilty Friday to rape and murder in the deaths of two 19-year-old Southern California women in 1988 and 1989.
Roy Zachary Williams, 27, entered pleas to the rape and murder of Trina Denise Young and the murder of Lena Aldridge.
Long Beach Superior Court Judge Richard Romero is scheduled to sentence Williams on March 18. Deputy Dist. Atty. Scott Carbaugh said he expects Williams to receive life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
Williams, a 6-foot, 8-inch former center, was first questioned by police in July, 1989, after Aldridge’s body was found in the trunk of her car in San Diego. Williams was the last person seen with her, police said.
In the Young case, police linked Williams to the 1988 killing through a DNA test of body fluids discovered at the murder site. The test matched a blood sample taken from Williams during the investigation of Aldridge’s death.
