Bush Plans Inauguration Day Texas Flight

WASHINGTON — President Bush will fly with family and friends to Texas after the inauguration on board the jumbo jet he used as Air Force One but will leave reporters behind, White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said Friday.
“He feels that after the inauguration he’s a private citizen and he wants it to be a private trip,” Fitzwater said, explaining why Bush did not want the traditional press pool to accompany him into retirement.
“He has invited a large number of family and friends to go with him,” said Fitzwater, who will fly to Houston with Bush after the swearing-in of Bill Clinton as President Wednesday.
