Rockefeller Gift: The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco will receive a major gift of 24 paintings and four works on paper from the estate of Blanchette Ferry Hooker Rockefeller (Mrs. John D. Rockefeller III), who died Nov. 29. The historic American artworks date from 1784-1967, with the majority from the 19th Century, and include pieces by Thomas Cole, Frederic E. Church, William Merritt Chase, Winslow Homer, Edward Hicks, Robert Henri and Andrew Wyeth. The gift ranks among the most important ever received by the museum.
