La Puente : $50,000 Reward in Slaying

The reward stands at $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robbers who fatally stabbed a local man who surprised them during a holdup.
Ernesto Layva, 41, died Dec. 20 in his home in the 15400 block of La Vecinas Drive, sheriff’s spokeswoman Benita Hinojos said.
Robbers forced their way into the home at gunpoint, tied up Layva’s wife and daughter, and ransacked the home, Hinojos said.
Layva was stabbed after surprising the robbers in the home.
