PREP ROUNDUP : University Halts Santa Margarita’s Streak

Jennifer Whiteley and Laura Watson each scored a goal to lead University to a 2-1 victory over host Santa Margarita in a Sea View League girls’ soccer game Tuesday.
The loss was the first in league play for the Eagles (9-2-6, 5-1-1) who also had a 12-game unbeaten streak ended. University is 6-6-2 and 4-2-2.
In other Sea View League games:
Newport Harbor 3, Saddleback 0--Jill Nelsen scored two goals for visiting Newport Harbor (7-9, 2-5).
Corona del Mar 0, Woodbridge 0--Goalkeeper Jessica Montgomery made 10 saves for Woodbridge and Laura Drumright made five saves for Corona del Mar (8-3-6, 4-1-3).
In the Century League:
El Modena 7, Santa Ana Valley 0--Kristi Hales had two goals and two assists and Aja Cordova and Kaylee Whitfield each scored twice for visiting El Modena (11-3-2, 3-1-1). Santa Ana Valley is 0-5 in league.
In the Garden Grove League:
Garden Grove 2, Rancho Alamitos 2--Forward Elisa Ross scored in the last five minutes of the game on a cross from Stephanie Meehan to give Garden Grove (3-8-4, 0-3-2) a tie at home against Rancho Alamitos. Poly Chittenden scored Garden Grove’s other goal in the first half. Nikko Black and Marisol Gonzalez scored for Rancho Alamitos (17-4).
Kennedy 9, Bolsa Grande 0--Adrienne Poane scored three goals and Laurie Fritz added two for Kennedy (10-2-3, 5-0).
Pacifica 5, La Quinta 0--Colleen Morris scored two goals for visiting Pacifica (5-5-2, 4-1).
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 2, Capistrano Valley Christian 1--Laurie Juranek and Karina Lopez scored for Orange Lutheran (5-5-2, 2-2-2). Danielle Reedy got the goal for Capistrano Valley Christian (4-4-1, 0-3-1).
In the Orange League:
Brea-Olinda 1, Magnolia 0--Junior Julie Evers posted her eighth shutout of the season for Brea-Olinda (9-6-2, 5-0). Kristin Watts scored for Brea-Olinda with 15 minutes left in the first half on a penalty kick. Alicia Terrell had nine saves for Magnolia (3-14, 2-3).
Valencia 2, Savanna 1--Amber Dickey scored two goals, including the game-winner with one minute remaining on an assist from Lena Trevino, for visiting Valencia (6-7-1, 4-1). Savanna is 2-2-1 in league.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Estancia 4, Costa Mesa 1--Lauren Weaver scored three goals for first-place Estancia (12-4-3, 5-0), which is tied for ninth in the county rankings. It was Weaver’s second three-goal game of the season. Jessica Schroeder scored for Costa Mesa (3-5, 1-3) in the last minute of the first half.
Laguna Hills 9, Laguna Beach 0--Carrie Geyer had three assists and Berkeley Edwards, Nicole Jolicouer and Crista Capshaw each scored two goals for visiting Laguna Hills (12-7, 4-1). Laguna Beach is 1-3 in league.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 3, Rosary 1--Kari Hogancamp, Tami Letterman and Shauna Itri scored goals for Edison (15-3-1, 5-0-1), which is ranked second in the county. Barbara Demman scored for Rosary (5-9-1, 1-5).
In Sunset League field hockey:
Santiago 3, Newport Harbor 0--Claudia Aguilar scored two first-half goals and Theresa Puskas added another for host Santiago (16-1-2, 10-0-1).
