San Antonio Light Closes: The San Antonio Light newspaper closed abruptly this week after the Justice Department approved its parent company’s purchase of the rival Express-News. Light staffers said they were told a final edition that had been prepared could be published at a later date. Hearst Corp. announced last October that it was buying the Express-News from Rupert Murdoch for $185 million and would close the Light if a buyer wasn’t found. The deal had been delayed while the Justice Department reviewed it for antitrust implications.
