After having sat through the pretentious fiasco “Toys,” we read that it was supposed to be an “ode to innocence.”
Does this include the scene wherein, for five minutes, several characters examine piles of toy vomit? Or Robin Williams’ lecherous grin every time the outrageously precious Robin Wright glides through on a bicycle? His pronouncement to her that he wants to get laid? Williams cries foul that a critic lambasted the movie before he’d seen it. Didn’t Williams read the script? The biggest disappointment of “Toys” is his bad judgment.
Examining the failure of “Toys” is like doing an autopsy on someone who got hit by a train.
