SANTA CLARITA : McKeon to Be Head of ‘Freshman’ Class

Rep. Howard P. (Buck) McKeon on Wednesday was chosen Republican freshman class president by the other newly elected members of Congress from his party.
As their president, McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) will represent the 47 new members of the minority party, about 10% of the entire Congress, as part of the Republican House leadership, and will assist in coordinating the legislative agenda.
Armando Azarloza, an aide to McKeon, said freshman class presidents in the past “have not been as influential as this one is going to be because he will be representing the largest entering freshman class since 1938.”
