Social Security Taxes

So a member of the Cabinet and a “prominent attorney” says he wasn’t aware he had an obligation to pay Social Security taxes for a woman he employed (“Ron Brown Failed to Pay Employer Tax,” Feb. 8). What else about his job escapes him? If those in the top levels of the federal government don’t know how Social Security works, who does? Seems to me if the wonks all got together to find out what the law says they owe and paid it, they just might find a lot less need to scrimp on other people’s benefits.
And I’m a Clinton supporter.
