Dana Point Group to Hold Bake Sale Today to Help Pay Animals’ Bills

DANA POINT — Bud and his brother haven’t had a storybook youth.
The year-old cocker spaniels came down with medical problems so expensive that their owner told the veterinarian she could not keep the dogs. Bud’s condition turned out to be the worse: cataracts that took 90% of his sight.
To raise money for Bud and other stray animals with large medical bills, the Animal Rescue Foundation is holding that classic fund-raiser, a bake sale. It will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at Hughes Market, 32225 Street of the Golden Lantern in Dana Point.
“It sounds a little hokey to hold a bake sale for animals,” said Gordon Elsen, president of ARF. “But there are lots of little animals with similar stories.”
