Final official paid attendance for Julio Cesar Chavez’s successful WBC super lightweight title defense against Greg Haugen on Feb. 20 at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City was 132,274.
The card, which also included title defenses by Terry Norris, Azumah Nelson and Michael Nunn, drew the highest-paid attendance ever for a boxing match, breaking the old mark of 120,757 on Sept. 23, 1926 for the first fight between Gene Tunney and Jack Dempsey in Philadelphia.
