Buchanan on Clinton
The battle over the Clinton economic plan will test the spine of the American people and will redefine the social contract that exists between Americans and their federal government. Buchanan’s call to opposition should be heeded by each and every taxpayer. For what President Clinton is attempting is nothing less than a complete transformation of the role of the U.S. federal government.
Our Founding Fathers intended a federal government with a limited power over the economic freedom of the nation’s citizens. In the 1980s, President Reagan struggled valiantly against a hostile Congress to restore this ideal. Now Bill Clinton--under the guise of “getting America moving again”--wants to gather the reins of power back in the hands of Washington bureaucrats. What George III did to our ancestors is mild harassment compared to Clintonomics. It is our duty to strike down the Clinton economic plan.
