Jeff Quinn pitched 5 1/3 innings of shutout relief as Golden West rallied for a 5-3 victory over Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Tuesday at Golden West.
Quinn (2-1) allowed two hits, walked two and struck out seven. He entered in the fourth inning with runners on first and third, two outs and Golden West (8-6, 3-1) behind, 3-0. A ground out ended the threat.
Golden West got one run in the fourth and added four more in the seventh. Jason Hart’s RBI single and a wild pitch by reliever Eleazor Elizondo tied it, 3-3.
Chris Larson had a two-out RBI single to put Golden West up, 4-3. The final run scored on an error.
Orange Coast (9-6, 3-1) got two runners on in the ninth with one out but Quinn got Curtis Bruce to ground into a game-ending double-play.
Jason Parsons had a two-run double and scored on an error to account for OCC’s three runs in the third.
“The difference was Quinn,” Golden West Coach Bert Villarreal said. “He really came in and shut the door, he needed that because he’s been struggling.”
