In another Orange Empire Conference baseball game:
Cypress 6, Riverside 5 (10 innings)--In the bottom of the 10th inning with two outs, David Biddinger hit a single, driving in Eric Stevens from second base to give Cypress (12-6, 2-3) the victory.
The rally started when Stevens got on base on a walk and then moved to second on a wild pitch. Teammate Josh Kliner was walked intentionally and then Biddinger hit the game-winner. Stevens, a freshman outfielder from Pacifica High, went three for four with one RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Greg Tippin hit a home run in the first inning, his sixth of the season. Riverside is 11-6, 1-3.
Saddleback 5, Fullerton 2--Neil Garcia had two hits and an RBI for host Saddleback (11-3, 3-2). Mike Boucher, Steve Lee and Craig Ainsworth combined on a four-hitter without allowing an earned run for the Gauchos. Fullerton is 8-7, 1-2.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis:
Orange Coast 8, Cypress 1--Freshmen Ali Esna and Rajeev Saggar, at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, helped Orange Coast (5-2, 3-2) to its victory, defeating their opponents 6-0, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-1.
Saddleback 9, Irvine Valley 0--Sophomores Nils Schullander and Max Alvarez helped Saddleback (6-0, 4-0) sweep host Irvine Valley with victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. At No. 1 doubles, Schullander and Avarez defeated their rivals, 6-2, 6-2.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis:
Saddleback 9, Irvine Valley 0--Makiko Suwa won at No. 1 singles and then teamed up with Jocelyn Jestersen for a victory at No. 1 doubles for Saddleback (3-2 in conference).
