Censorship Fighters: A group of journalists and others in Panama plan to screen the Oscar-nominated documentary feature “The Panama Deception” on Thursday in defiance of a Panamanian censorship order, according to one of the film’s producers, Joanne Doroshow, in New York. The group was unsuccessful Thursday in attempts to appeal the Jan. 25 order by Panama’s National Censorship Board, which banned all forms of the film’s release in that country. The 90-minute film, which is playing at Mann’s Criterion Theatre in Santa Monica at 11 a.m. this weekend, chronicles events, background and aftermath of the December, 1989, U.S. invasion of Panama.
