Tate easily captured the overall championship of a dual meet with Millikan High, both of Long Beach. She took first place in all four events--balance beam, parallel bars, vault and floor exercise--as the Jackrabbits won, 143-137.4.

Other top prep performers:

Adriana Cuevas, a Norwalk High sophomore, helped her track team defeat Fullerton, 66-60. Cuevas took first place in the 100-meter low hurdles, high jump, long jump and triple jump.

Jenine Salamun, a sophomore pitcher for the Wilson High softball team of Long Beach, held Artesia High to three hits and drove in the game’s only run with a triple in the top of the 8th inning for a 1-0 victory.
