COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Windmiller Mows Down Ohio State, 5-1

Amy Windmiller pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts Wednesday to pace Cal State Northridge’s 5-1 victory over Ohio State in pool play of the Cal State Fullerton PONY softball tournament.
Windmiller (9-2), a junior transfer from Sacramento City College, was perfect through 4 2/3 innings before surrendering a hit.
The Matadors (20-3-1) struck early with three runs in the first inning on four hits, a walk and an error by the Buckeyes (4-9).
Tamara Ivie and Vicky Rios each had two hits for the Matadors, who will face Texas A&M; today in the second round of pool play.
Jen Fleming’s two-run double in the sixth gave Northridge a 5-0 lead.
In other softball games:
Moorpark 7, Cuesta 0--Andrea Soto had a bases-loaded triple in the fifth and Stephanie Moreno had a run-scoring triple in the third for the Raiders (7-7, 3-0) in a Western State Conference game at Moorpark. Marcie James (5-6) earned the win.
BASEBALL
Cal Lutheran 14, Cal Baptist 1--Eddie Lample had a pair of doubles and Gabe Diaz hit a double and a triple to lead the Kingsmen (14-4), ranked No. 1 nationally in NCAA Division III, in the opening round of the UC San Diego tournament.
Pat Norville (3-1) struck out seven and allowed one hit in six innings. Louis Birdt pitched the final three innings.
Hector Lopez had a solo home run in the ninth for Cal Lutheran.
