FULLERTON — A motorist crashed into a utility pole Saturday night, causing a transformer to burst into flames and briefly interrupt service to 2,000 Southern California Edison customers.
“It lit up the whole sky like a lightning bolt,” Fullerton police Sgt. Glenn Deveney said.
The unidentified driver sustained minor injuries in the single-car accident near the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Basque Street. The vehicle was demolished, Deveney said.
