Levi Strauss & Co. has named Pete Jacobi president of its international subsidiary, Levi Strauss International.
Jacobi, who was head of Levi Strauss & Co. Global Sourcing, will oversee about 8,000 employees and businesses in 60 countries. The company’s international business produced more than half its 1992 earnings.
Jacobi, 49, joined Levi Strauss in 1970 and has served in several capacities, including general manager of regular jeans, president of the youth wear division and Levi Strauss Europe.
Jacobi replaces Lee Smith, who left the company last April to devote his time to public advocacy dealing with issues focusing on AIDS.
