Water District Officials and Their Perks

Walter W. Knitz and Michael P. Lord have been living the good life at the expense of the water consumers in the Santa Margarita Water District (“Water District Officials Enjoy a Flow of Perks,” March 28).
Knitz says that no guidelines exist to regulate travel and entertainment expenses, but by their consistent behavior, Knitz and Lord show that guidelines must exist. They must specify that these two officials stay at the most expensive hotels and eat at the most expensive restaurants, also that their room and bar tabs must consistently be obscenely high.
The water consumers in the Santa Margarita Water District should refuse to pay their water bills until these two men are removed from their positions and replaced by men who still have some contact with the real world and a respect for those who pay their salaries.
