HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Corr Pitches 1-Hitter for Alemany

Mike Corr limited Dominguez to a second-inning infield single in pitching Alemany High to an 11-0 victory in a first-round game of the Babe Herman tournament Saturday.
Corr, a senior right-hander, walked five and struck out five to improve to 2-0. It was the eighth victory in a row for the Indians (9-3), who play Chatsworth in the second round Monday night at Stengel Field in Glendale.

Chatsworth 14, St. Francis 0 (five innings)--Jim DeBiase and Kyle Reed combined on a no-hitter and Mark Lopez hit two home runs to help the Chancellors (10-2) rout St. Francis (1-10) in a first-round game of the Babe Herman tournament, which was called in the fifth because of the 10-run rule.
Chatsworth scored 11 runs in the first inning.
DeBiase (6-0), a junior right-hander, threw four hitless innings, struck out two and walked one. Reed took over in the fifth and struck out the side. Lopez had a grand slam in the first and a two-run home run in the second.
Crescenta Valley 12, Ocean View 1--Jim Parque and Kirk Hagge combined on a no-hitter for Crescenta Valley in a first-round game of the Babe Herman tournament called after 4 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule.
Saugus 8, Loara 7--Scott Himes walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth to drive in Steve Rogers with the decisive run in a Babe Herman tournament game called after six innings because of the time limit.
Van Nuys 3, Marshall 2; Huntington Park 5, Van Nuys 0--Alex Alvarenga’s suicide squeeze down the third-base line drove in Benjamin Navarette in the seventh to give the Wolves the victory over Marshall in first-round pool play of the L.A. Umpires tournament at Crystal Springs Field in Griffith Park. The Wolves had only four hits against Huntington Park in their second-round game.
Harvard-Westlake 11, St. Bernard 6--Todd Lemkin had two homers to lead Harvard in a Mission League game at St. Bernard.
Buena 8-3, Hart 4-2--The Bulldogs (9-3) swept a nonleague doubleheader at Hart.

Van Nuys Rotary Invitational--Drue Powell of Reseda High won the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.3 seconds at Birmingham High.
