Sears to Convert Some Catalogue Stores to Retail Outlets: Sears, Roebuck & Co., which in January said it was closing its 2,000 catalogue stores, announced plans to convert about 350 of the former stores to small retail outlets. Sears said the conversion of the stores would be completed by year’s end. Sears plans to convert 18 catalogue locations in California: Auburn, Davis, Fallbrook, Ft. Bragg, Grass Valley, Lake Elsinore, Lakeport, Livermore, Napa, Paso Robles, Placerville, Porterville, Ridgecrest, Standard, Temecula, Ukiah, Woodland and Yucca Valley.
