Higher Education Funding Crisis

The reasoning of the Cal State Board of Trustees is beyond me. Young people are desperately looking for a way out of crime and gangs and we are taking away their opportunities by grossly increasing the fees to attend a university.
Although it may be true that our university system is low in cost compared to other states, that doesn’t mean that those states are better and we should emulate them. It only means that what we were doing in the past was the right thing: Give the public access to a low-cost education and the region will flourish. Isn’t it interesting that the region has been in decline since the university system has steeply increased the fees to its students.
