COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Christ College Irvine Sweeps Doubleheader from Azusa Pacific

Christ College Irvine swept a doubleheader from Azusa Pacific, the fourth-ranked baseball team in the NAIA, in Golden State Athletic Conference play Saturday at CCI.
In the first game, Mike Crumrine pitched a five-hitter and had two runs batted in for the Eagles (13-23-2) in a 3-1 victory. Doug Senne had four hits, including two doubles and a home run, and Paul Chavez had two RBIs for CCI, which needed two extra innings to win the second game, 6-5.
In other GSAC baseball:
Southern California College 6-2, Cal Baptist 4-10--Jason Brissey, Ryan Seidel and Dwight Neade each hit home runs for visiting SCC (25-18, 9-7) in the first game. Ryan Meredith pitched a complete game scattering 14 hits to earn his 10th victory for the Vanguards.
Scott Grant had 14 strikeouts and pitched a three-hitter for Cal Baptist (7-8-1 in conference) in the second game of the doubleheader. Albert Contrera hit his 11th home run for SCC.
In nonconference baseball:
Grand Canyon 12, Chapman 5--Ben Mendoza and Octavio Medina each had three hits for the Panthers (19-27) at Hart Park. Rich Seminoff had five RBIs including a three-run home run in the first and Joshua Hurst had four hits and four runs scored for Grand Canyon (20-22).
