Outfielder Lopez to Attend Pepperdine

Chatsworth High outfielder Mark Lopez has committed to play baseball next season at Pepperdine, he said Tuesday.

Lopez, a returning All-City Section 4-A Division selection who is considered a premier defensive player at his position, picked Pepperdine over Cal State Long Beach.

“It’s a quality program and I feel like it’s the best place for me,” Lopez said.

Lopez, who bats left-handed, is 31 for 71 (.437) and has scored 30 runs. He has seven doubles, four home runs and 23 runs batted in.
