GLENDALE : Ex-Fire Captain Gets 8 More Years for Arson
- Share via
A former Glendale fire captain already serving a prison sentence for setting a series of fires in the Central Valley was sentenced to another eight years in prison Wednesday on arson charges.
John Orr, 43, of Eagle Rock is serving a 30-year sentence for setting a string of fires beginning in 1987, many similar to those described in an unpublished manuscript he wrote about a serial arsonist. U.S. District Judge Edward Rafeedie of Los Angeles ordered Orr’s eight-year term to run concurrently with his 30-year sentence.
A former fire captain in suburban Glendale, Orr pleaded guilty to three counts of arson March 24. He was accused of setting fires along the Pacific Coast while returning from an arson investigators conference in 1989.
