Traffic was halted for more than two hours on California 118 in Moorpark Wednesday night after three cars were involved in a major-injury collision near Nogales Avenue, authorities said.
The accident occurred on a curving four-lane stretch of the highway about 7:20 p.m., when an eastbound car operated by a suspected drunk driver crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming vehicle, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Nagel said.
The first car then flew into the air and landed on a third vehicle, Nagel said.
Motorists were forced to detour more than six miles around the accident scene.
The number of persons involved in the crash was not immediately known. The injured were transported to Simi Valley Hospital, Nagel said.
