COLLEGE NOTES : SCC’s Carlton Named to NAIA District 3 Team

Southern California College men’s tennis player Bobby Carlton, a senior from Fullerton High, has been named first-team All-NAIA District 3, the school announced.
Carlton advanced to the semifinals of the district tournament before losing to eventual champion Carlos Vasquez of Cal Baptist.
Coach Robert Pearson, who led the Vanguards to third place in his first year, was named the district coach of the year.
Also, Pearson has been hired as coach for the women’s team, which will have its first season next year.

Men’s soccer player Greg Olson and softball player Cherlyn Gordon were named the SCC male and female athletes of the year. Olson was a third-team NAIA All-America last season. Gordon was a second-team all-district selection.

Chapman softball players Wendy Clemens and Rachel Fieber were named first-team All-California Athletic Assn. Deann Ford was a second-team selection.
