South Gate Shuffle Fails To Pay Off

South Gate Coach Brian Scott shuffled his lineup at the City 3-A boys’ tennis semifinals Monday, hoping to win six of nine doubles sets and defeat Marshall.
But South Gate won three doubles sets and lost 13 of 16 singles sets, as defending two-time champion Marshall (15-0) advanced to the finals with a 22-7 1/2 win at the Racquet Centre in Studio City.
“We came in with all of the confidence in the world,” Jesse Zaldivar said. “But we were definitely not as deep as they were.”
